Stefanos Francis Hunter

Musician & Educator

Stefanos F. Hunter holds a Bachelor of Music Degree (with K-12 Teaching Certification) from Montclair State University, and lives in North Jersey. He currently is the Director of the Music Department at Paramus Catholic High School, where he leads the charge on all of their musical endeavors. As a performer, Stefanos has been featured in solo and larger ensemble settings, across a large variety of musical worlds since 2014. Although his most notable appearances include the East Coast premier of Considering Matthew Shepard by Craig Hella Johnson and Appalachian Requiem by Michael Conley as a featured Soloist. As well as performing Handel’s Messiah and Mozart's Requiem at the NJPAC, and even Beethoven’s 9th Symphony at Carnegie Hall. All with the Montclair State University Singers and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. Stefanos is very diverse, as he dabbles in a little bit of everything. From Bel Canto Arias to Power Ballads to Jazz Standards to Heavy Metal, and a countless amount of other styles. Although he keeps his scope ever-widening, his primary artistic focus areas include Classic and Alternative Rock, as well as Classical Music and Musical Theatre. As a lot of his musical inspiration comes from Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Charles Ives and Benjamin Britten. Performance and playing music are an electricity that cannot be taught—it must be felt, there is no word—and this is exactly where Stefanos’ love for being a musician comes from. As for teaching style, Stefanos has been teaching with guitar center and within his own private studio for about four years now. He is able to teach all skill levels and is willing to take on any student with genuine passion and love for music. Teaching—for Stefanos—is such a fulfilling process; to try his hand at letting his students long for the endless immensity of music is a truly remarkable privilege.
